This post touches on what I was discussing a couple of days ago following the CNN Healthcare Special with Fareed Zakaria…
There is absolutely NOTHING that pisses me off more than a severely overweight individual who complains incessantly . “My body hurts, I’m tired” blah, blah, blah! No shit you don’t have any energy and your body aches, your carrying around roughly 200 extra pounds dummy and your body is trying desperately to tell you something! I simply cannot comprehend how taking care of your body through eating healthy and moving around (like we were designed to do) is such a foreign concept to such a vast number of Americans. Some people believe in the notion that our government should be responsible for insuring they stay alive, employing the healthcare system. And to an extent I agree, the government should develop a universal plan that provides sufficient healthcare for a reasonable price, similar to other industrialized nations. But when did we stop taking responsibility for our own bodies as human beings? God forbid we reduce the amount of pills we pop everyday and actually give proper nutrition a shot!? We fail to recall that our ancestors relied entirely on mother nature to survive and evolve.
I kid you not, I was at the home of an acquaintance that is obese and suffers from diabetes. I had to use the restroom and couldn’t help but wonder how many prescription drugs she may or may not have in her medicine cabinet. Boy was I shocked! The entire thing was almost completely filled with orange bottles of all sizes with names the average person without a Doctorate couldn’t pronounce let alone define! And yet, when you opened her refrigerator she had about every frozen food and processed product imaginable! WTF? This is completely ass backwards! Not only were the substances being ingested into this ladies body working against each other, but she couldn’t do anything but grumble about her discomfort. I became so irritated that I actually had to leave. I was frustrated and confused by her behavior but more than anything it deeply saddened me. I felt like I couldn’t say anything for fear of either offending her or wasting my breath. But why do we feel the need to be so sensitive around fat people? They know they’re obese and I’m up to my ears trying to ignore the giant elephant in the room (no pun intended).
Now if you are extremely overweight and have chronic health problems however you’re at least putting forth a SOLID effort to change your body then good for you, keep at it! If not, don’t put your body through hell everyday and expect many people to have sympathy for you. Every single human being has the will power deep down inside to change. If you give your body the right tools you will be amazed by its healing powers. So save some of the energy you use whining about your life and GO FOR A DAMN WALK! Thank you.
Sincerely,
Angry Granola Girl
